As an initial step, when back pain suddenly strikes, try to relax both your back and your mind; stretching exercises can help reduce sciatic pain.

Dr. Alex Jimenez D.C.,C.C.S.T’s insight:

Sciatic nerve issues are painful.  If left unchecked may get worse with time.  Reaching pandemic levels, patients are seeking answers to this insidious pain syndrome.

If you have back pain or sciatic nerve pain, you’re NOT alone. Globally, one out of 10 people suffers from lower back pain, and back pain is also the number one cause of job disability worldwide.  In some industries the number has risen to one out of 4 affected.  We can not ignore the problem.  Treatments at times are obvious and simple life adjustments can rectify the problem.  However, at times the issues surrounding the sciatic syndrome are not easy to ferret out.

The problem appears to be particularly prevalent in the US. According to estimates, as many as eight out of 10 Americans struggle with back pain, and this affliction has now become a primary cause of pain killer addiction. These quick fixes typically mask the issue allowing the problem to continue.  The first line of attack must be to assess the anatomy and physiology.  The direct and indirect biomechanics must be evaluated. The scope of this article is to discuss the simple yet effective options a patient can do at home along with options for continued assistance.
